Pathos, Ethos and Logos

What is pathos? Pathos is a quality that evokes pity or sadness.

How is pathos used? Pathos is is a rhetorical device that can be used in an argument to draw the audience in and to help it connect with the argument.

An example of pathos is "If we don't move soon, we're all going to die!"

What is ethos? the characteristic spirit of a culture, era, or community as manifested in its attitudes and aspirations.

How is Ethos used?
